Today we will highlight a game original created for the PC many years ago. Counter-Strike, to be more specific, today we will talk about the latest in the CS games family, Counter-Strike GO aka Counter-Strike Global Offensive or for short, CS: GO. I personally began playing this game many years many years ago during it’s beta stages in 1999 before its official release in 2000. I was a just a kid then but every summer my friend and I would spend at least half the damn day playing that game. Let’s find out what else makes this game a must download for Mac gamers.
What Is Counter-Strike: GO About?
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) will expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched 14 years ago.
CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust2, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more.

hl.exe parameters
OK. There are a quite a few parameters you can tag onto the end of your shortcut to hl.exe, or straight off the command line (start >> run).
Here is a list of them, and what they do.
-console- this will enable the Half Life console. Press ~ (tilde) to bring it down in game, or use the console button in the main menu.-game <variable>- this will set the custom game to whatever variable is set. eg cstrike, dod, dmc. The valid variables are the abbreviated names of the mods inside your base halflife directory.-numericping- this will replace those goofy dots in the Halflife game browser with your actual ping time (measured in milliseconds, not dots )-noipx- Disables LAN protocall. This will disable IPX support. Which is fine, because you don't need IPX at all for Halflife. Recommended-noip- Some IP related command remove if unable to connect to servers. Useful for single player. Will disable IP. (Note: I'm not sure about this one).-nointro- This is to skip the two avi's at the start.-nojoy- disables joystick support, more free RAM.-noforcemaccel- Use desktop mouse acceleration settings.-noforcemspd- Use desktop mouse speed settings.-noforcemparms- Use desktop mouse buttons settings.-noaafonts- Disables Anti-Aliasing of Screen Fonts.-toconsole- when you open hl.exe with this parameter, it will load straight into the console. Starts the engine directly in the console, unless a map is specified with+map.-dev- enables developer mode. Useful for testing a homemade map, or debugging. Will show a more detailed summary of what is being loaded/initialized in the console. This command invokes to show Half-Life all the RAM that you have and it can be used.-particles <variable>- Variable number is the number of particles for which to set aside buffer space. This is useful for searching for leaks in maps.-port <variable>- will set the port (for a listen server). Default is 27015.-zone <variable>- appears to solve most script memory errors if you set it to 1024 (I believe the default is 255). Maybe the max line length (in characters) of a script or cfg file. This allocates more memory to scripting files, like autoexec.cfg and so forth.-freq <variable>- Changes the Hertz for monitors HL1 Engine. CRT 60-100 85=Common LCD 60-75 72=Common.-refresh <variable>- Changes the Hertz for monitors HL2 Engine. CRT 60-100 85=Common LCD 60-75 72=Common.-32bpp- Enables 32Bit rendering.-16bpp- Enables 16Bit rendering.-dxlevel <variable>- Set DirectX<variable>version. i.e.:-dxlevel 90 ; DirectX 9.-safe- It start the game in safe mode disable audio etc.-autoconfig- Restores video and performance settings to default for the current hardware detected.-condebug- Logs all console output into the console.log text file.-nocrashdialog- Suppresses some 'memory could not be read' unhandled errors.-novid- When loading a game with this parameter, the intro Valve video will not play.
Console Commands
You can also add any console commands onto the command line with +command_name <command_setting>. Eg: +exec my.cfg.
+a +r_mmx 1 - Instead of using a cfg you can launch the game with a command or a cvar in the command line.
+ex_interp 0.01 - Sets ex_interp value.
Shortcut
