Nov 30, 2010 This is five minutes of silence at 8000Hz in the Wav format. It is intended to be used as the hold music for a Freeswitch server as a means to patch the problem of voice chat reconnecting approximately every two minutes in OpenSimulator or (perhaps) Aurora Simulator. I performed an Aux-Input hack mod on my RX8 and it requires me to use an 80 minute silent audio CD in wav format. I can purchase one for 8 bucks (not including shipping) but I rather not. I used Windows sound recorder to record 60 seconds of silence through an input that wasn't in use, so that means I had zero noise, just a silent wav file.

Ok, I created a couple of silent.wav files that you can use to replace annoying sounds that are in the game that you don't like. Edit: One is long silence and one is short silence. I've always hated the chime sound on the tech screen that loops incessantly. It took me a while but I found the culprit: Morphtext.wav. I replaced it with silent.wav.

The audio test tones below are available for free download and use in your projects. Select the tone you wish to download and click the corresponding format of your choice (or right-click and select 'Save link as.'). All files are mono, sampled at 44100Hz, 16-bit. If you're not sure which tone you want, 1kHz is a safe bet.

For silly reasons I need to make a perfectly silent track long enough to fill a CD for experimental purposes. Rather than using a sound recorder for 70+ minutes is there any other way to do it?
Some kind of wav file editor where you could take a few seconds of silent footage and copy/paste on the end until it was the desired length?

Sound recorder cuts out after a few minutes.
And after a few minutes from posting this I found Audacity does exactly what I wanted, sorted
So go on then.
What are your 'silly reasons'.
Testing a CD Player or something similar?
Easy.
1. Download Audacity
2. Select Generate --> Silence from the Menu and input the silence length you want, job done!

Oh, missed that bit!

Yes, actually converting it so I can also use it to connect an MP3 player to it.

Sounds like an interesting project.
Would be good if you could share the progress via another thread?
Simple really, all I have done is solder a jack plug connection directly to the sound input on the unit from the CD deck. Using the silent CD to trick the unit into turning the input on and playing the sound output from the AUX input
Found the idea from a google search as changing the stereo in my Saab was a little more tricky and expensive than I liked and the sound from the standard setup is pretty good anyway.
Just tested it and it works not sure if there are any long term side effects, there are other methods but have heard reports of units burning out with them. My phone was a little upset when plugged in with the blank disc playing but if I connect it up when the radio is on then select the CD player the phone is happy. Just need to test the Sansa Clip now. Some people have disconnected the CD deck completely but I wanted to keep it just in case.
